M83 To Score New Sci-Fi Film Oblivion, Stars Tom Cruise
Anthony Gonzalez of the dream-pop band, M83, will be scoring the new sci-fi film, Oblivion. Oblivion stars Tom Cruise as Jack Harper, one of the “last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete…”
Oblivion is being directed by Joseph Kosinski, the same director who did Tron Legacy, which was scored by the French electronic duo, Daft Punk.
In an interview with The Playlist, Anthony Gonzalez says “I’m not afraid to do my first soundtrack on a big Hollywood movie, with a big budget and a lot of pressure… I like challenges and it excites me more than frightens me.”
Oblivion is scheduled to begin filming in Iceland and the US in the coming months, with a release date to come around April of 2013.
