ThisIsTheLatest Interview with Jon Allen

Jon Allen talks “Jonah’s Whale,” musical influences, & performance plans.

Jon Allen recently stopped by #ThisIsTheLatest headquarters to discuss his latest album, “Blue Flame.”

The interview kicks off with general questions surrounding Allen’s new album, including his 4 year come-back, his most prideful track on the album, the meaning behind his single, “Jonah’s Whale,” and more:

[Jonah’s Whale] is about the feeling of joy that comes from falling in love. Freud said that love is ‘a state of temporary psychosis.’ Reality has its limits. We all need to lose our heads sometimes.

Furthermore, Allen discusses his musical influences including where he finds his song inspiration, what top artists he’s been inspired by, and even which songs by other bands he wishes he had written:

There are so many. “You Really Got Me” by The Kinks. There are just certain songs and recordings that are perfect such as “Who Knows Where The Time Goes” by Fairport Convention.
