Leicester’s Own “King of Romance” Charms Locals
BBC Radio Leicester is celebrating 5o years in the business, which is just as long as Engelbert Humperdink’s tracks have been playing on their air waves. Engelbert was recently honored at an opening of a new BBC Radio exhibit, where he took time to talk and connect with fans. While Engelbert is an international icon he has his roots sown strongly into the streets of Leicester.
“Of course, Leicester has changed a lot, but it has to change and usually it’s for the better.” – Engelbert told reporters in an interview with Leicester Mercury
“He’s a local boy. He’s a superstar but he keeps his links with Leicester.” – Former BBC Radio Leicester Janet Mayo
What is most impressive about Engelbert’s recent stop in Leicester is that it is only part of an extremely busy tour schedule. The “King of Romance” isn’t letting anything hold him back and is currently wrapping up his 2017 “50th Anniversary Tour”. Engelbert’s anticipated hometown show in London is on November 19th (tickets available here), and he concludes tour with a four-date, four-city run in the Philippines. Despite his daunting schedule, Engelbert remains positive and light-hearted about traveling.
“Flying in and being jetlagged doesn’t mean anything when you have something brilliant to do.”
“It’s great to have had 50 years, and hope we have many more.”
On Wednesday, November 8th get an exclusive first listen of Engelbert’s upcoming album, The Man I Want to Be. We’ll be spinning the new album in full, and we want you to listen along!
The Man I Want to Be will be available everywhere November 24th, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on CD in the OK!Good Records Shop, iTunes/Apple Music, Amazon CD, Amazon Digital and Google Play.
