Engelbert Humperdinck Rocks Long Island!

EH-wiwibloggs CONCERT 600Engelbert Humperdinck was featured in a post for Wiwibloggs for his performance in Long Island, New York on October 11, 2014. This performance was a part of Engelbert Humperdinck’s North American tour. Engelbert Humperdinck performed to a sold out crowd at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury. Wiwibloggs correspondent, Sopon, was front row where he saw the entire show from the best seats in the theatre.

The Hump started off the show with a mid-tempo classic, “Am I That Easy To Forget?” After that, he stopped singing for a little while in order to greet his audience. He did this every few songs, and even added some stand-up comedy into the mix!

“Being in the round is kind of hard because everyone can see Humpy’s bumpy!”

Engelbert Humperdinck may be almost eighty years old, but he is still as sharp as ever. He even joked about America’s most infamous lady, Kim Kardashian. Engelbert Humperdinck had fans laughing out loud at all of his jokes.

Engelbert Humperdinck sang a few covers throughout the night, such as “Didn’t We” by Frank Sinatra and “The Hungry Years” by Neil Sedaka. The set-list for the night also included songs from his new album Engelbert Calling. Engelbert Humperdinck performed “Something About The Way You Look Tonight,” which is a duet with Elton John. Jon Allen Kicks Off 2014 Fall UK Tour

Jon Allen 2014 Fall UK TourSinger-songwriter Jon Allen kicks off his 2014 Fall UK Tour tomorrow (10/15/14) in support of his widely acclaimed new album, Deep River. This will be the first time Jon Allen has toured his trademark mix of catchy folk and Sixties-inflected country blues in the UK since 2013, and his first full tour playing songs from Deep River live.

I’m really looking forward to getting back on the road and playing out my new material. It’s great to be able to draw on a larger body of work. The arrival of the new album has made it harder to write a set list because I think there are a lot of strong songs on the record vying to be included. I guess that’s a good problem to have. There are some tracks on Deep River that I think are among my best work. I hope the fans enjoy them as much as I do. – Jon Allen

Released on July 8th, 2014, Deep River is the third album of Allen’s career following his 2009 debut album Dead Man’s Suit, and 2011’s Sweet Defeat. The new album features singles “Night & Day,” and “Falling Back,” which both received heavy rotation from BBC Radio 2 and led to Deep River being named their Album of the Week.

Engelbert Humperdinck Featured on Media Mikes

eh- media mikes cover 600

Engelbert Humperdinck was featured on MediaMikes.com for his interview with Mike Gencarelli. During the interview, the two talk about Engelbert Calling, Engelbert Humperdinck’s first ever duets album, and his North American tour.  The interview gives great insight to the many details of making this album

Engelbert Humperdinck says it took just over three years to complete this particular album. “Thank God for internet for being able to send these tracks across the world to each of the artists involved with this album. It was a lot of work and I am glad that it is finally available to my fans to enjoy,” says Humperdinck.

MG: Tell us about the title “Engelbert Calling” I picture you going through your contact list and calling out all your friends.
EH: Yeah, the biggest challenge was putting it all together and making my wish list of people I wanted to work with. Johnny Mathis is one of my favorite singers of all time. I love his work. Kenny Rogers was great getting to work with. When I called Willie Nelson, he recorded his part in Nashville, I told him that I was so thrilled to have him on the album, especially singing a Bob Dylan song. Along with signing, I also asked him to play guitar since he has such a great unique style. He was so accommodating and after he recorded it called and made sure it was ok. So that was really great.

Engelbert Calling has 23 tracks, all of which are duets, on 2 CDs. To record 23 duets in the studio with all 23 musical legends would be a nearly impossible task. Engelbert Humperdinck recorded only two tracks in the studio. Engelbert Humperdinck recorded with Elton John, “Something About the Way You Look Tonight,”  and Gene Simmons, “Spinning Wheel,” in the studio together. All the other tracks were done via airways. “Technology has made it possible to do things that are impossible in real life. This album was done in England, London, Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, South America and Europe,” says Humperdinck.

MG: How was it singing with your kids, Louise and Bradley on this album?
EH: Yep, that is my son and daughter at the end of each disc as a bonus track. I was thrilled to have them there. I wanted to show the world, since this is a world release record, that my children can sing and also pay tribute on my album.

MG:“I Need You Know” with Lulu is one of the newest songs that you covered; what made you choose this song?
EH: I had to have Lulu on this album. Many years ago, when my single for “Release Me” came out, she was on a show in England called “Jukebox Jury”. There were four people on the panel and Lulu was the only one who voted my song a hit. She did a super job on this song. It is a great duet song, so it was easy picking. Plus it suited her voice very well.

Engelbert Humperdinck will be kicking off his North American tour October 10th at the American Music Theatre in Lancaster, PA. Engelbert Humperdinck plans on covering many of the songs off of Engelbert Calling. Engelbert Humperdinck even has a special surprise for all those who attend a concert.

“I do a virtual duet with Elton John. It is going over absolutely fantastic and people are loving the idea of it.”
