‘The Man I Want to Be’ Album Review by Pop Culture Classics

‘The Man I Want to Be’ proves Engelbert Humperdinck is still the King of Romance in latest review by Pop Culture Classics

Pop Culture Classics editor Paul Freeman recently reviewed OK!Good Records artist Engelbert Humperdinck’s album, ‘The Man I Want to Be’, released November 24, 2017.

Engelbert Humperdinck - The Man I Want to Be - pop culture classics

‘The Man I Want to Be’ is Engelbert Humperdinck’s newest studio album and a special love letter to his wife Patricia Dorsey.  Released late in 2017, the 12 track album features new heartfelt originals by Engelbert Humperdinck and unique renditions of current pop songs.  Paul Freeman recently reviewed the album, commending Humperdinck on the sincerity of the album as a whole and the variety of production:

Throughout this new album, he sings with unerring warmth and sincerity. The record is designed as a love letter to Patricia, his wife of 53 years. She’s suffering from Alzheimer’s. So there are touches of melancholy here, but also the joys of love fulfilled and remembered. The songs bridge pop and country, classic and contemporary.

Freeman’s thoughts on the album are prompt, but poignant.  He praises his work on his renditions of “Just the Way You Are” by Bruno Mars, “Photograph” by Ed Sheeran, Willie Nelson’s “Crazy” as well as Jim Reeves’ “Welcome to My World”:

Humperdinck finds profound meaning in each lyric. Impeccably produced by Jurgen Korduletsch, this album proves that Engelbert is still the King of Romance.
