Virtuoso Sounds Features Janet Devlin’s ‘Duvet Daze’ EP

Rising Irish singer-songwriter Janet Devlin has been featured on Virtuoso Sounds for her latest release, ‘Duvet Daze‘ EP. The EP is a small collection of tracks from some of Janet’s favorite artists including Ed Sheeran, Duran Duran, and 10cc.

The release also features the Gaelic version of “Whisky Lullabies” (Suantraí Meisciúil). When asked about why she chose to re-record the track in Gaelic Janet stated, “As ‘Whisky Lullabies’ is my favorite song from the album I thought I’d put a different spin on it. I wanted to re-record the track in Gaelic; “Suantraí Meisciúil”, as I love the different vowels and sounds of the Irish language. With some help from Davy Spillane on the low whistle I was also able to add a more Celtic feel to the backing track.”

Check out Janet’s “Suantraí Meisciúil” below:

Suantraí Meisciúil (Whisky Lullabies)” evokes a multitude of interpretations. Janet explains the meaning of the song as “It represents the idea of a night-cap and compares the experience of falling asleep as a child in your mother’s arms to falling asleep as an adult, on your own. As a child you get the warmth of an embrace and drift off easily. However, as an adult, sometimes the closest you can get to recreate this feeling of comfort and drowsiness is by having a tot of whisky.”

Duvet Daze is available on iTunes, Amazon and Bandcamp, as well as available for streaming on Spotify. Follow Janet Devlin on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
