Singer-songwriter Janet Devlin’s ‘Duvet Daze’ EP Available Now

Janet Devlin has released her covers EP entitled ‘Duvet Daze’ in North America via OK!Good Records. The EP is a small collection of covers of some of Janet’s favorite artists including Ed Sheeran, Duran Duran, and 10cc. Janet puts her own spin on the tracks, including “I See Fire”  which features some beautiful Low Whistle from Ireland’s legendary musician Davy Spillane.

The North American release of the EP also features the Gaelic version of “Whisky Lullabies” (Suantraí Meisciúil). When asked about why she chose to re-record the track in Gaelic Janet stated, “As ‘Whisky Lullabies’ is my favorite song from the album I thought I’d put a different spin on it. I wanted to re-record the track in Gaelic; “Suantraí Meisciúil”, as I love the different vowels and sounds of the Irish language. With some help from Davy Spillane on the low whistle I was also able to add a more Celtic feel to the backing track.”

“Suantraí Meisciúil (Whisky Lullabies)” evokes a multitude of interpretations. However, the song is about how, as a child, you always have someone around to ask you if you’re alright. As you grow older, you may forget to ask yourself the same question. Janet explains the meaning of the song as “It represents the idea of a night-cap and compares the experience of falling asleep as a child in your mother’s arms to falling asleep as an adult, on your own. As a child you get the warmth of an embrace and drift off easily. However, as an adult, sometimes the closest you can get to recreate this feeling of comfort and drowsiness is by having a tot of whisky.”

Duvet Daze EP is available for digital purchase on iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play. It is also available for streaming on Spotify and Bandcamp. The original version of “Whisky Lullabies” can be found on Janet’s debut album ‘Running With Scissors,’ which is available in music retailers nationwide, on iTunes, Amazon, and Google Play. It is also available for streaming on Spotify and Bandcamp.
