December Daze perfectly showcases Janet’s unique and enchanting vocals found, originally on her debut album Running With Scissors, as she covers holiday classics such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” Joni Mitchell‘s emotional “River,” and a beautiful acapella take on “Silent Night.”
The EP also displays Janet’s own songwriting skills with the title track, “December Daze,” co-written with her guitarist Roo Walker, and the infectiously catchy, “Happy Holidays” which she wrote herself and performed every instrumental track on. “Happy Holidays” deserves to be on everyone’s Christmas playlist. Both original tracks contain the fun and upbeat indie-folk sounds that Janet has become known for.
