Irish singer and former Contestant of UK’s X Factor, Janet Devlin, arrived for her first show stateside in NYC last night and sang acoustic and at times with a ukulele to a full house. Devlin, who sang mostly cover songs for the evening has an angelic, raspy voice that has that indie cred of Jewel when she first hit big decades ago. Her new LP “Running with Scissors” sees the singer broadening her folk scope and possibly her fan base as well. She covered a sleek version of Lorde’s “Royals” and the Cure’s “Friday I’m In Love”. Look out for this Irish sensation to captivate audiences this year both stateside and worldwide.
