Carly Jamison’s “Ungrounded” Reviewed By RootsTime!

Carly Jamison’s “Ungrounded” album has officially made it’s way overseas! Netherlands-based blog RootsTime has done an extensive review of “Ungrounded,” comparing Miss Jamison to the legendary Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders and praising her songwriting abilities. The review, that is written in Dutch, has been translated in it’s entirety here.

A snippet from the review:

“As she did with her debut album “Everything Happens For A Reason” in 2011, the New York singer and songwriter Carly Jamison combined forces with bassist Tres Sasser as album producer for the newly released sequel “Ungrounded”. Once again, they recorded the album in Nashville studios.

‘Not grounded’, which is the literal translation of “ungrounded”, can lead to dangerous and explosive situations and that is perhaps the atmosphere that Carly Jamison wants to create with the eleven tracks on this record. She starts already very firmly with the rock song “Superman Fantasy” which was also the first single that was launched from the album. Attached is the fun animated video for the single.

Carly Jamison has renounced her punk past and is clearly moving in the roots rock direction with these two albums, something that apparently suits her very well. Former frontman for “The Georgia Satellites’, Dan Baird takes on the guitar work for “Ungrounded”, while Tres Sasser plays bass and Keith Brogdon (ex” Cheap Trick “) does his thing on drums. The eleven songs were all composed by Carly Jamison herself, with “No Easy Way Out,” “Small Talk” and “Sailing Away” being collaborations with Tres Sasser.”
