Dee Snider to Paul Ryan: “Don’t Use My Song”

Via The Daily What: Dee Snider to Paul Ryan: “Don’t Use My Song”

Twisted Sister’s front man Dee Snider does not want Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan using “We’re Not Gonna Take It” as an election campaign song. According to Dee Snider’s blog:

I emphatically denounce Paul Ryan’s use of my song “Were Not Gonna Take It” as recorded by my band Twisted Sister. There is almost nothing on which I agree with Paul Ryan, except perhaps the use of the P90X.

The Romney-Ryan election campaign has met some resistance from rock musicians in recent weeks. Tom Morello, guitarist of Rage Against the Machine, wrote an op-ed condemning Paul Ryan’s policies despite Ryan referring to himself as a fan of the band. In addition, alternative rock band Silversun Pickups asked Mitt Romney not to use their hit “Panic Switch” on the campaign trail.

As a result of the grievances, the Romney campaign has cooperated and stopped using the songs of Twisted Sister and Silversun Pickups.
