20 Questions With The Donots Part 1

The Donots share their wildest, darkest secrets with us in these 20 questions interviews with each member of the band. Okay, not really the wildest or darkest secrets, but still entertaining. In part 1, we have singer Ingo up with his answers. Check back every week for the rest of the band’s answers.

1. Describe yourself in three words:
Coffee. Puppies. Music.

2. What is your favorite food?
Anything vegetarian, but I want it as hot and spicy as possible!

3. What is your favorite movie?
Probably the whole Star Wars Saga. Or maybe The Goonies. Or Stand By Me. Or Indiana Jones. Or Back To The Future… Waaaah, way too many…

4. Who was your childhood musical hero?
I was crazily in love with Cyndi Lauper and a huge fan of New Order, The Cure and Billy Idol.

5. What is your favorite song off “Wake The Dogs?”
I suppose that that’s the title track, “Wake The Dogs”. I totally dig that laid back british feel to it.

6. Who is the one person that you would be completely starstruck if you met?
I’m a huge John Cleese fan. In fact I have just subsidized his divorce and bought a “Ministry Of Silly Walks” framed autographed picture. That’s true romance, right?

7. If this were a confessional, what would you confess?
I have a feeling I didn’t drink enough coffee today. Guilty as charged!

8. Who is your celebrity crush?
That’s got to be Katy Perry. I met her once. Got the pictures still on my cell phone…

9. What is the most embarrassing song that I would find on your iPod?
I don’t listen to embarrassing songs. I’m proud to say my record collection consists of just great music!


10. Do you have any hidden talents?

Yeah, I’m great at hiding my hidden talents!

11. What would you want to be doing if you weren’t a musician?
I’d either work in the videogame industry or I’d be having my own dog day care.

12. What is the most insane reaction someone has had to meeting you?
I think it’s always kinda weird when people want your autograph on their skin in order to get it tattooed afterwards. Had that a couple of times…

13. What was the first song you ever learned?
Some stupid German traditional song on a keyboard, I suppose.

14. What is the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Up there in my all-time fave list would be shows of Faith No More, Arcade Fire, Metallica, At The Drive-In, Descendents and Slayer. Ask me
again tomorrow and I’ll mention a zillion others.


15. Do you have a favorite quote or lyric that particularly inspires you?

“Do what you want.” (Bad Religion)


16. What are your guilty pleasures?

I might sound repetitive but here we go again: Coffee.

17. What are your pet peeves?
I hate bananas! Yuck!

18. What is your favorite tattoo of yours?
I totally dig the dancing lady on my left arm. It’s an art nouveau picture by Alfons Mucha.


19. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

I wish I could turn everything into rice pudding, my favorite dish!

20. If you were only allowed to listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
“American 3: Solitary Man” by Johnny Cash. It’s perfect for every mood, is compiled of amazing songs and it’s just as mellow as it is rough.
